Hi , I am Angie and I learning everyday " how to keep life simple but not empty " .
I know what you are thinking because I thought the same thing when I first heard the word " minimal " . You think it means empty , am I right ?
I am here to tell you that it does NOT mean that at all .
I am also sure you have read ALL the other minimalists out there but I am different . I believe that minimalism has nothing to do with empty .
Being a minimalist is about having enough but not hoarding .
And curbing those impulses to buy more and more till you are being a slave to you things . When I say slave I mean it as it sounds , you work your butt off to pay for a house to hold your things , get to much stuff you will pay for a bigger house or you may even rent storage sheds .
With the brain washing of todays marketing we all want more or better . I know I am suckered into this way of thing too !
I am living the struggle of " ohh, I like that " to " I love that and I have to have it " TO " I am going to pas this time " .
BUT I have found some ways to have what I want and it be balanced , not empty but not hoarded .
I will post daily about my ups and downs with minimalism and hoarding .
Look forward to hearing your feedback :)

My mom would be considered one of those hoarders. As she has a two storage units holding things she will never use.
ReplyDeleteI am a minimalist. I do not hoard. I make sure I have enough. Such as with clothing. If I buy another shirt, one gets donated to Good Will or given away.
I do not know what makes us want to hold onto things , my best guess is that once we had nothing and fear that same situation .
